Don't review books by people you know, love, or hate. Is it bad?
What exactly is the subject or topic of the book? What Is a Book Review? For guidance on formatting citations, please see the UNC Libraries citation tutorial. However, write in-between the lines. I didn't. Has the author ignored important aspects of the subject?
Perhaps you want to situate a book about the Cuban revolution in the context of Cold War rivalries between the United States and the Soviet Union.
Do you have a least favorite part of the book? Did you find it difficult to care about a main character, and could you work out why? Doing so makes your book analysis more personalized.
Thus, writing a review is a two-step process: developing an argument about the work under consideration, and making that argument as you write an organized and well-supported draft.
